Well over a century ago — in 1863 — the Easthampton Rubber Thread Company was founded in Easthampton, Massachusetts by Samuel Williston. That company, the predecessor of today’s JPS Elastomerics, produced square-cut rubber thread for the apparel and textile industries.

Today, 140 years later, JPS Elastomerics has emerged as a market leader in each of the segments in which it competes: commercial roofing, environmental liners and floating covers, and in the production of extruded polyurethane film, sheet and tubing. Throughout its history, however, the company’s core competency has remained the same - compounding, calendering and extruding advanced materials for many highly diverse market segments.

State-of-the-art automated manufacturing processes, Class 10,000 clean room environments, and advanced technology, high performance thermoplastic materials have replaced the products and processes of yesteryear.
Throughout the company’s history, unparalleled customer commitment, continuous product research and development, and vast changes in manufacturing and technology have enabled it to offer a series of top-quality product lines. These products, combined with a dedicated staff of business professionals, have kept JPS Elastomerics at the forefront of the markets which it serves. Each of its operating entities — Stevens Roofing Systems, Stevens Geomembranes and Stevens Urethane — produce high-performance specified materials and each has earned a reputation for providing top-quality products accompanied by superb technical support.
